Sharing Holiday Cheer with the Families of Ascencia

For its 2022 holiday initiative, the Xos Community Action Program (XCAP) partnered with Ascencia, a Los Angeles-based non-profit with a mission to lift people out of homelessness, to provide its residents with fresh clothes and goods to kick off the new year. The initiative, called Adopt-A-Family, invited Xosians to bring in new items from wishlists of families who are currently residents of Ascencia’s housing facility in Glendale, Calif. Desired items included new clothing, sports goods, shoes, books, and school supplies. From there, Xosians gathered together for an afternoon to wrap each gift and load them into one of our 100% battery-electric stepvans for drop-off the next day.

For over two weeks, Xosians embodied two company values, #DoRight and #OneTeam, and brought in dozens of goods for donation. As a result, we were able to fulfill every wish list item for the 12 deserving families—including new clothing for each family, sports and hiking gear, and a brand new Samsung laptop for a 19-year-old preparing to go to college.

This initiative marks the second time working with Ascencia. In May, XCAP ran a food and goods drive with Ascencia that involved making and delivering sandwiches and hygiene packs. We’re honored to continue working with the team at Ascencia to provide our unhoused neighbors with things they need to feel cared for this holiday season and always.
