Loomis and Xos Lead the Way in Navigating Emissions Regulations

New York City has recently implemented new regulations to reduce vehicle idling, with harsh penalties for those who don’t comply. Cash-in-transit companies like Loomis have an important security requirement to keep their vehicles running, but they still need to comply with the city regulations. The solution? Xos electric trucks. Already on the road in New York City, these armored electric stepvans drastically reduce tailpipe emissions and eliminate idling. After a successful 20 vehicle deployment, Loomis has placed an order for 150 more Xos vehicles. In partnership with Xos, Loomis is leading the way in reducing emissions and innovating the cash-handling industry.

Xos electric stepvans are powered by modular battery pack configurations that provide up to 200 miles of range on a single charge—more than enough for most cash-in-transit runs. For routes like this, trucks return to their terminals each night to be recharged and prepped for the route the next day, making electric stepvans perfect for cash-in-transit and last-mile delivery use cases. In addition to reducing tailpipe emissions, these electric vehicles also help reduce noise pollution since they operate much more quietly than traditional gas or diesel vehicles.

Our partnership with Loomis is a testament to the reliability and durability of our vehicles and their ability to achieve the high-performance parameters required for cash-in-transit operations. “We have made a commitment to reduce carbon emissions from our business and have set out to lead the transformation in the industry. By significantly increasing the number of EVs in U.S. operations, we are on our way to both reducing our own emissions and helping our customers reach their targets while maintaining our high-security standards,” said Aritz Larrea, President and CEO of Loomis AB.

At Xos,  we're enabling fleet electrification now for those looking to navigate emissions regulations while saving money on total cost of ownership over time. We make it easier than ever before for fleet operators to transition their fleets to our 100% battery-electric vehicles with financing options,  charging infrastructure solutions, and intelligent fleet management for electric fleets.
