Adopt Don’t Shop: Partnering with Local Animal Rescue, I Stand With My Pack

For the Xos Community Action Program’s (XCAP) quarterly event, we decided to focus on a cause near and dear to many Xosians’ hearts: animal wellbeing. Over one-third of Xos employees have a furry friend at home, making our #xospets Slack channel one of the most active and popular communities. So, when the time came to brainstorming what type of cause we should support for our next initiative, the decision was an easy one.

The XCAP team got their heads together and chose to partner with a local animal rescue called I Stand With My Pack (ISWMP). I Stand With My Pack is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to saving the lives of animals and preventing animal suffering and cruelty. ISWMP’s efforts focus on the successful removal of dogs from the streets of LA city and county as well as high-risk kill shelters in other parts of California. ISWMP assists the rescue dogs through the rehabilitative process and successfully places them in their forever homes.

“Safe socialization with humans outside of their normal environment is a healthy enrichment activity to help these dogs work toward a new normal,” said Winter Fate Morvant, head of XCAP.

On Friday, April 8th, we hosted several team members and adoptable dogs and puppies from ISWMP for the afternoon. “It was wonderful to have the dogs come in-person to our headquarters; it boosted morale to have these sweet dogs onsite making people smile while also helping ISWMP get their message out about encouraging people to adopt, and not shop,” said Winter

Based in Culver City, ISWMP has rescued more than 1790 animals since 2016, and exactly 60 animals this year to date. In addition to focusing on LA county, ISMP has also created an international platform increasing awareness through education, hands-on field work, disaster relief, fundraising, non-violent protest, and legal action.

“At the end of the day, this is about giving dogs a second chance that they might not otherwise have, were it not for ISWMP,” said Winter. “We at Xos were pleased to partner with this great organization and help promote animal wellbeing and create a more humane world for all.”

ISWMP currently has several dogs available for adoption and fostering. To learn more about how to get involved, visit www.istandwithmypack.org.
