Electric Vehicles 101: Xos Visits Los Angeles Technical Trade College

Our Shop Vehicle Technician Supervisor Rene Bugarin speaks to the students of the Advanced Transportation and Manufacturing department at LATTC

This year, Xos reached a staff count of over 200 people, and we’re not slowing down. We’re proud of our growth and continue to seek out new, diverse talent. Beyond recruiting, we’re also invested in nurturing the next generation of curious-minded technicians interested in the future of transportation technology.

Whether the students of today ultimately work at Xos or another EV company, we believe it’s critical to support trade schools and the service technicians of tomorrow. We aim to establish partnerships with local institutions and engage students to promote career opportunities within the zero-emission transportation industry.

Xos Goes to School

Recently, a few of our team members visited Los Angeles Technical Trade College (LATTC) to give a presentation to students in the Advanced Transportation and Manufacturing (ATM) department on the commercial electric vehicles we’re building at Xos. Our electric step vanwas brought into the service bay so students could get an up-close and personal look at an EV.

LATTC is located in downtown Los Angeles and offers trade education and pathways to four-year universities. Founded in 1925, it’s the oldest of the nine public two-year colleges in the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD). LATTC offers a comprehensive Transportation Technologies curriculum that centers on hands-on learning experiences in automotive, diesel, collision, and motorcycle repair.

Xos was thrilled to participate in an interactive presentation where students could ask questions and get insight into the electric vehicle industry. Rene Bugarin, our Shop Vehicle Technician Supervisor, provided an open forum for questions about Xos vehicles and how they work, and Leslie Granados, our Technical Recruiter, presented the career paths and positions available to students.

Partnerships with Local Los Angeles Institutions

Events at local trade schools and developing partnerships with these institutions are an essential part of nurturing the growth of Xos, future technicians, and the EV industry as a whole. We’re committed to expanding our reach within the Los Angeles trade school community, creating programs that foster a sense of curiosity, and encouraging education in electric vehicle technology.

In the near future, we’ll be offering service technician internships and part-time positions for on-the-job learning experiences. Be sure to follow our careers page for updates on that program and current open roles.

We have our sights set on a world full of Xos vehicles, but we’ll always be firmly rooted in our Los Angeles home and hope to provide opportunities for the people and communities in our own backyard.
